Donna Marie (Spillman) Skinner, 70, former resident of Brush, Snyder and Fort Morgan, Colorado, passed away on November 18, 2013, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette, Colorado. |
She was born December 9, 1942, in Denver, Colorado and grew up in Morgan County. Donna graduated from Brush High School in 1960 then embarked upon a 40-year career as a cosmetologist in Fort Morgan, Evergreen and the Denver metro area.
Donna proudly owned and operated "A Cut Above" hairstyling salon on north Main Street in Fort Morgan in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
Donna married Billy McGee in 1960 and together they had two children. She was later married to Richard "Corky" Skinner for 14 years.
She had been living in Broomfield, Colorado the last 20years.
Donna enjoyed many activities and pursuits over her life time and often commented on how she would try anything at least once. She held a special love for the mountains of Colorado and never wanted to be far away from them. She loved music and often performed in local bands during her early adult life.
She enjoyed dancing, painting, creating stained glass pieces and other artistic endeavors. She was an advocate for causes important to her.
Survivors include Donna's sister and brother-in-law; Pauline and Wayne Bullard of Arvada, Colorado; two children and their spouses; Patrick and Wendy Skinner of Saint Louis Park, Minnesota and Barbara and Don Schell of Casper, Wyoming; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew and many grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Bill Spillman, her step-sister, Imogene Spillman, one great-grandchild, and one great-niece.
Donna will be deeply missed by family and friends.
A private tribute to her life will be held at a later date.
