Iris Faye Carter, 69, died Monday, June 24, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah.
Mrs. Carter was one of 13 children born to the late Ben and Sophie Frances Inman in Shallotte, N.C. She was a member of Daniel Baptist Church. She loved going to the Goodwill Store and was an avid Scrabble player and homemaker. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother "Nanny" and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Faye Mosden.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Horace Russell Carter of Fleming; daughter, Jenny Hogarth (Gregg) of Fleming; sons, Rusty Carter (Janie) and Dean Carter, both of Fleming; brother, Elmer Inman of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Diane Babson and Lula Mae Todd, both of Shallotte, N.C., Marie Jones of Leland, N.C., and Loris Swann of Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, Dawn Mosden (Rodney), Heather Jones (Clayton), Laura Mosden (Richard), Jessica Brown (Jay) and Allison Carter; great-granddaughters, Brook Jones and Charlotte Brown; and extended family, Sarah Carter, Mary Kirkland, Tammy Haberman, Michael Carter and Howard Carter.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Daniel Baptist Church with Pastor Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Daniel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richmond Hill Funeral Home.
