Russell Daniel Hughes

Mr. Russell Daniel Hughes, 55, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at home.
Mr. Hughes was a longtime resident of Pembroke and an iron construction and structural fabricator for more than 30 years with Sundt of Arizona. He was a hard and dedicated worker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jasper Garland and Winnie Fanning Hughes Davis; brothers, Don Hughes and Joe Howard Hughes; and a sister, Terry VanGiller.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Beth Winter Hughes of Pembroke; son, Russell "Hutch" Hughes Jr. of Pembroke; daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Alvin Jones of Pembroke, Ashley and Nick Smeelie of Fayetteville, N.C., Sonya Black of Statesboro and Christy Christmas of Brunswick; brothers, Robert Hughes of Pembroke, David Hughes of Savannah, Jessie Hughes of Minnesota and Pat Hughes and Glenn Hughes, both of Pembroke; sisters, Peggy Tate of Maine, Pam Drazich of California and Valerie Hughes of Pembroke; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
A memorial service is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Flanders Morrison Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
