Gregory Ridley Obituary
Gregory Alan Ridley, age 54, died on December 13, 2010, at Emory University Hospital.
Greg was born in Albion, Mich., and was a retired US Army Veteran, having served in Desert Storm. After retiring from the military in May 1996, he joined Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation as head of security. In September 2007, he became ill with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma which he battled until he passed away. He was a member of the Overcoming By Faith Church in Savannah and attended his home church, Lewis Chapel AME in Albion, Mich.
Survivors include his wife, Sudie M. Ridley of Richmond Hill; children, Christina Garcia, Trudie Ridley, Debbie Ball and Gregory A. Ridley, Jr.; four sisters, Kathryn C. (John) Wheeler, Jacquelyn D. Ridley, Anna Ruth (Elijah) Armstrong and Melnee M. Ridley; two brothers, William T. (Virginia) Ridley, Jr. and Michael J. (Erica) Ridley; and eight grandchildren, Mark Scriven, Christopher Scriven, Cierra Ridley, Armani Garcia, Antonio Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Malachi Garcia and Jada Ridley.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 21, in Richmond Hill Funeral Home, Richmond Hill.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 22, at Overcoming By Faith Church, Savannah.
Burial will be in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Glennville, with full military honors.
Remembrance: The Hope Lodge, 1522 Shoup Court, Decatur, GA 30033.
Richmond Hill Funeral Home Cox Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.

To the Family, just wanted you to know Gregory, is still in our hearts and left an impact on the Soldiers and Civilians he met during his lifetime. At Fort Lee, him and I will always compete against each other. He would win, and I would win. He would always laugh. And say Gunter you cheated. I would reply and say ,how else will I win. To the Ridley family, we just heard about brother Greg Ridley. One never knows when God plan on calling you home. The life that Greg lived should be an example to us all. Life is short regardless of our age, so we should live, love, and cherish everyday like it's our last.

I just read about Gregory's death on facebook and you have my deepest sympathy. I remember the good old days in Albion and the track team...fun times. Gregory's picture truly captured his wonderful smile; I know that the entire Ridley family is mourning..he will live in your heart and memories forever.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband. I can remember the times when I would stop by the store in RH and Greg was there with you, he was always pleasant and had a smile on his face. God showed himself strong in Greg's life and God gave each of us the gift of the kindness that Greg had and the love that he had for all people. I know that each and every one of you are saddened by your loss. I got the opportunity to meet Mr. Ridley once but with that one opportunity he really made my heart smile and it was an honor to be in his presence. But know that he is in a better place where he is able to keep a closer eye on you all....more than he did before. I was so saddened to learn of Greg death this morning. Don gave me the note just before water aerobics class started. Know that the whole class felt it will be difficult to match his ceaseless good humor and joking. We will all miss Greg's humor, tall tales and wild stories that we had to confirm with you. While we are comforted in the knowledge that he is in a far better place, his presense will be missed. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.
