Freddie Clifford Cannady, 90, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, under the care of Hospice of Savannah.
He was the son of George Mellie Cannady and Edna Earl Pughsley Cannady. He was born on July 4, 1923, and raised in Bryan County. He was a Navy veteran that served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. While away at war, he proposed to his childhood sweetheart. Upon his return from the war, he married Eloise Burnsed of Savannah. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Dearborn, Mich.,n for several years. He then began a career working for Carlton Co. of Savannah and Brunswick, a Caterpillar tractor dealership. He later retired from Carlton Co. and moved to the Black Creek community.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eloise Burnsed Cannady; three daughters, Theresa Cannady of Brunswick, Dorothy Edwards (Carl) of Pooler and Donna Cothron (Ed) of Treasure Island, Fla.; four grandsons, Christopher George, Andrew Brooks, Jason Carter and Stephen Ingram; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, 55 Heape Road, Ellabell.
Visitation is an hour prior to the service at the church.
