Mr. Robert Prentiss Provence, 67, died Saturday, March 15, 2014.
He was born May 15, 1946, to the late Robert Nathaniel Provence and the late Rachel Tuckwiller Provence in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Meriam "Kitty" Thompson Provence, were married in 1966. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, N.C., in 1964 and graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in business administration. He served in the U.S. Army as a transportation movement specialist from 1966-1969, earning the Bronze Star medal for meritorious service during Vietnam. He worked for a short time following college as a regional bank branch manager, then 10 years in the retail automotive industry in both finance and general management. He retired officially in 2003 after 22 years as a financial adviser and branch manager with now Wells Fargo Advisors in Richmond and Charlottesville, Va. The Provences chose Richmond Hill for their retirement relocation in 2009.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Robert Preston Provence and wife Tiffany of Welcome, N.C., along with son Nathan, and two daughters, Katelyn and Samantha; his loving chocolate Labrador retriever, Nestle; and his sister, Linda Provence Ferguson of Savannah.
Private services will be held for immediate family.
