William Edwin Webb II, 4, gained his angel wings Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, when he went home to our heavenly Father. In his final days, William was happy in his home surrounded by family and friends whose lives he touched.
He was only 4 years old and yet with such a short life, he touched so many. He fought neuroblastoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer, for 11 months. His strength and determination were evident to all that knew him. His life may appear short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His bright smile and sweet voice melted the heart of all who knew him, while his quirky sense of humor always brought a smile and endeared friends and strangers alike. Though he was known for his strong battle against cancer, he was still a normal little boy who was more than just a child fighting a disease. He loved simple things. He took pleasure in riding in his wagon to feed the ducks with his family, having his parents swing him on his swing, playing in his grandmother's school room before the other children arrived, riding in the boat with his grandfather, making silly faces, teasing his father and so many other simple pleasures. But most importantly, he loved being with his mother. His favorite color was red, and he enjoyed listening to and singing children's Bible songs. He was never far from his soft blankie, his special water bottle or his sewing toy. While the loss of William is not easy, his family wants to celebrate his life. He will forever remain in their hearts and be their superhero. He was brave beyond measure and brought happiness to more people than they will ever know. His family will continue to cherish his memory and use his strength to keep life in perspective
He is survived by his parents, William E. "Bill" and Danielle Kelley Webb of Savannah; brother, Brian Boulware of Savannah; sister, Kelley Webb of Savannah; maternal grandparents, Doyle and Barbara "Bo" and "Coach" Kelley of Savannah; paternal grandmother, Ann Webb of Conyers; paternal great-grandmother, Carolyn Murphy of Dublin; uncle, Doyle Kelley Jr. and wife Mary of Savannah; cousins, Joshua Kelley and Jacob Kelley, both of Savannah.
A memorial service is at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Michael Ricker.
The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church fellowship hall.
Remembrances may be made to Warriors for William in care of any Wells Fargo Bank.
