James Wiggins Obituary

James Harris Wiggins, died on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 97. He was born and raised in Uniontown, PA.

James was a US Army veteran serving in Europe during WWII and was discharged in 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant and he moved to Newtown shortly thereafter. He worked for over 30 years as a millman and finish carpenter at the Frost-Watson Lumber Company in Newtown. James was an active member of the Newtown Presbyterian Church for the past 60 years, serving in numerous capacities including as an Elder and a Sunday School Teacher.

James was the devoted husband of the late Gwendolyn Kelly Wiggins, also of Uniontown, PA He is survived by a daughter, Linda W. Martin and her husband Michael of Broomall, PA and a son Brenton T. Wiggins and his wife Joanne of Newtown. He is the proud grandfather of Matthew B. Wiggins of Washington, DC and Molly K. Wiggins of Newtown. He is also survived by his four sisters, Roselma Hess, Eleanor Kolb, Viola Wiggins and Margaret Frost.

Relatives and friends are invited to James's Memorial Service on Monday, April 11, 2011 at 2 PM the Newtown Presbyterian Church, Washington Ave. and Chancellor St., Newtown, under the direction of the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, Newtown, 215-968-3891. Memorial contributions in James's name may be made to the Historic Preservation Trust, Newtown Presbyterian Church, 25 N. Chancellor St., Newtown, PA 18940
