Edward Naufzinger Obituary

Edward C. Naufzinger, Sr.

GALION: Edward C. Naufzinger Sr., 91, Galion, died Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Magnolia Terrace, Galion, after a short illness.

Edward was born in Bucyrus on August 11, 1921 to the late Edward J. and Sophia W. (Bassler) Naufzinger. He married Ruth C. Albert on July 27, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY and she preceded him September 28, 2011.

He was a graduate of Bucyrus High School, Bucyrus. Edward retired in 1974 from the former Perfection-Cobey Steel Body, Galion as a maintenance foreman. Edward served in the U.S. Navy during WWII serving for three years in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters. He fought in seven campaigns and was awarded one Silver Star and two Bronze Stars. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Galion. He was a member of the American Legion, Galion, Life Member of Disabled American Veterans #100, Bucyrus and was Past Commander. He was very proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed woodworking and yard work.

He is survived by his son Edward C. & Dianne Naufzinger, Jr., Galion; his two granddaughters: Kimberly Crosswhite & Tom Powell and Erika & Steve Fuson; his five great-grandchildren: Joshua & Mikeala Crosswhite, Marissa Henkel, Colton Powell and Coen Fuson; his great-great-grandson Carter Crosswhite; and his two nieces and nephews in Bucyrus.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters: Violet Shutt and Catherine Krantz.

A graveside service in Fairview Cemetery will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Matt Wheeler officiating. Military honors will follow the service and be conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Galion/Crestline Veterans Organizations.

The Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion is honored to have served the family of Edward C. Naufzinger, Sr.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Lutheran Church, 127 S. Columbus Street, Galion, Ohio 44833.
