Russell E. Swinehart
UPPER SANDUSKY: Russell E. Swinehart, age 89, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at 8:50PM at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Russell was born on October 28, 1923 in Crane Township, Wyandot County to Ray B. and Lydia (Frey) Swinehart, both of whom are deceased. He was first married to Betty Johnson and she died on April 13, 1959. He then married Vera Yaussy on July 3, 1960 in Calvary Baptist Church in Bucyrus and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
Surviving are five children, Karen (Daniel) Lee of Upper Sandusky, Michael (Jay) Swinehart of San Antonio, Texas, Tim (Marlene) Swinehart of Upper Sandusky, Jan (John) Pool of Upper Sandusky and Steve (Nancy) Swinehart of Upper Sandusky; along with eight grandchildren, Scott (Darcy) Washburn of Upper Sandusky, Kimberly (David) Kisor of Summerville, South Carolina, Matthew Swinehart of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ryan Swinehart of Upper Sandusky, Josh Pool of Upper Sandusky, Jamie Pool of Upper Sandusky, Heather Swinehart of Findlay, Daniel Dotson of Upper Sandusky; and nine great grandchildren. Russell is also survived by a brother, Robert Swinehart of Enon, Ohio and Evelyn Rowse of Hoopeston, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cory Washburn; and a brother, Ralph; and a sister, Anna Roberts.
Russell was a farmer and worked for the following companies during his life, The Timken Co., Uni-Grip and Guardian Industries.
For hobbies Russell enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, hunting and fishing, and most of all, he loved to put in a full day of work.
Funeral services for Russell E. Swinehart will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with the Rev Steve Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Friday, March 22, from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center or Wildwood Chapel and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
