Bertha Mae Offerle

NEW CARLISLE: Bertha Mae Offerle, 90, of New Carlisle and formerly Bucyrus and Tiffin, died Wednesday, December 5, 2012, in Dayton.

She was born September 19, 1922, in Michigan, to Gladys Viola Mae Keckler Howell and Harpster Howell. She married Adam Gottfried, in Ohio, and he preceded her in death. They had two sons and four daughters. One son, George Allen is deceased. She then married Robert Offerle, in Ohio, and he also preceded her in death.

She is survived by her five children, Irene Ball, her caretaker, William (Dottie) Gottfried, Eleanor (Jack) Langford, Beth (Jim) Donaldson and Karen Namaky; an honorary son, Alvin Gottfried; 15 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and honorary grandchildren and great grandchildren. She referred to all of her grandchildren as her "little sugar foots."

Despite chronic ill health most of her life, she cared for many individuals and foster children in her home. She liked family gatherings, reading and crocheting. She made afghans for family and friends. She was very active in her church and had a great faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior.

Her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2012, at First Seventh Day Adventist Church, 3798 Clifton Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45220.
