BUCYRUS: Betty J. Weaver, 90, died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Maplecrest in Bucyrus where she has resided since returning to the area from Florida.
Betty was born May 8, 1923 in Bucyrus to the late Harrison and Lela (Mapes) Robinson. She attended Mount Zion School and, after graduating in 1941, attended The Ohio State University
. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in education and returned to Mount Zion to teach Home Economics. She then taught at Wynford after its merger and retired from Col. Crawford. While teaching, she was a chaperone on several class trips to numerous destinations. After retirement, she taught Home Ec. as a substitute at Buckeye Central and worked with horses at Pickwick Farms before moving to Florida.
Betty loved being with people and traveled with friends to destinations like Hawaii, Branson, Vegas and more. She enjoyed boating, playing cards, reading and keeping patients company as a hospice volunteer. Betty always had a pet and enjoyed their company. She will be remembered as a fun-loving, independent and caring soul by her beloved family and many friends.
Betty is survived by her brother, Harold (Doris) Robinson of Bucyrus; nieces, Debbie (Lauren) Markley, Connie (Joe) Kennedy, Janie (Gary) Link and Lynn (Dave) Brewer and her great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Leroy and Donald Robinson.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Betty's family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. A private burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery.
