Charles F. Shifley

ASHLAND: Charles F. Shifley, beloved husband, father, and Grampa, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Cleveland Clinic with his family by his side.

Charlie was born on October 6, 1937 to Hattie (Heiber) and Charles E. Shifley. He grew up on a farm outside of Bucyrus and graduated from Bucyrus High School. After attending Ohio State University he worked for many years as a Mechanical Engineer for General Hydraulics in Bucyrus, General Hone Corp. in Ashland, Sunnen Corp. in St. Louis, MO, and most recently for Ohio Tool Works in Ashland.

Surviving are his wife of almost 55 years, Penelope Shifley; children, Melinda (Tom) Lueck of Perrysburg, Kara (Wayne) Ruman of Copley, and Jay (Heather) Shifley of Ashland; much loved grandchildren, Sam, Joe, and Annie Lueck, Deanna and Alena Ruman, and Nathanael and Abby Shifley; and his siblings, Mary (Jim) Yanka, Calvin (Velda) Shifley and Orlo (Dorothy) Shifley.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John (Evelyn) Shifley and Herb (Maxine) Shifley.

Charlie was much loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.

A memorial service and celebration of Charlie's life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Grace Fellowship Church, 365 Straub Road East, Mansfield, OH. Inurnment will be private in the columbarium at Grace Fellowship Church. In keeping with Charlie's wishes, there will be no visitation.
