BUCYRUS: Howard E. Pyles, 84 of Bucyrus passed away on Saturday at Bucyrus Community Hospital, he had been in failing health yet his death was unexpected. Howard was born Dec. 2, 1927 in Manheim, W. Virginia to the late Ray and Ellen (Teeter) Pyles.

He was married July 15, 1955 to Neysa N. (Corathers) Pyles who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 1999; In addition to his wife; and parents; he was preceded in death by brother, Clarence.

Howard is survived by son, Steven (Ginger) Pyles of Wellington, OH; daughter, Lori (David) Looker, Bucyrus; grandchildren, Tara (Justin) Bell, Shelby; Rob Washek and Kevin (Heather) Washek; as well as two great grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Clark of PA.

Howard moved to Bucyrus in 1966 and retired from General Electric in 1985 after 22 years. He was a graduate of Rowlesburg H.S. and was a graduate with honors of the Davis Elkins School in Elkins W. Virginia.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post 181. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Bucyrus and formerly sung in the church choir and was a lay minister. Howard also sang in the Ohio State Senior Chorus and enjoyed golfing and camping.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Military honors will be provided at Oakwood Cemetery by the Am. Legion Post 181 Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Am or the Susan Coleman Breast Cancer Research through the funeral home.
