Edgar J. Sutter

CRESTLINE: Edgar J. Sutter, age 84, of Crestline, died Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Olentangy Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation in Galion.

Edgar was born January 21, 1928 in Shelby to the late Alfred and Agnes (Gwirtz) Sutter and was a 1946 graduate of Shelby High School. He was a 26 year employee of PPG in Crestline, but his true love was farming. Edgar was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Bethlehem and was also a member of the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed going to auctions and loved his children and grandchildren.

On February 14, 1953 he married Mary Ann Smith and she survives. Also surviving are 5 children: Ben (Janet) Sutter of Crestline, David (Dianne) Sutter of Crestline, Ron Sutter (Dianna Kuhlman) of Crestline, Ann (Edward) Stransky of Plain City, Sally (George) Young of Crestline; 16 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 3 sisters-in-law: Clarice Sutter of Columbus, Stella Sutter of Mansfield, Joan Sutter of Avon. Edgar was preceded in death by a daughter: Alice Ann Sutter; daughter-in-law: Charlotte Sutter; 3 brothers: Victor Sutter, Robert Sutter, Tom Sutter; 2 sisters: Sr. Annunciata (Estella) Sutter, SND and Helen Hohenbrink.

Friends may call on Thursday, June 14, 2012 from 6-8 pm at the Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby, where a rosary will be recited at 8 pm by Deacon Stephen C. Keller. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 10 am. Fr. Michael A. Geiger will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial expressions can be made to the church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Olentangy Woods for the excellent care given to their husband and father over the last two years.
