Genevieve Daiber
NEVADA: Genevieve Daiber, age 96, of rural Nevada, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 9:15 PM at the Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
Genevieve was born on October 17, 1915 in Galion, Ohio, to Mervin and Bessie (Sipes) Gifford, both of whom are deceased. She married Clarence L. Daiber on March 12, 1938 in Galion and he died on February 18, 2000.
Surviving is a daughter Wilma (Orval) Poorman-Burky of Bucyrus; and two sons, Larry (Mary) Daiber of Crestline, and Jim (Pam) Daiber of Nevada; and six grandchildren, Mike (Donna) Daiber, Rodney (Georgie) Daiber, Jenny Healea, Tracy (Mike) Fiber, Mark (Nicole) Poorman and Jolene (Ben) Kelbley; and a step granddaughter, Debbie (Randy) Haldeman; along with nine great-grandchildren, Josh (Holly) Daiber, Katlyn (Jason) Perkins, Abbie Otto, Caleb Healea, Jacob Fiber, Ashley Kelbley, Mike Lester; and four step-great-grandchildren, Amanda Haldeman, Tyler Haldeman, and Gary (Bibi) Haldeman.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and four sisters, Ethel Spitler, Helen Steiger, Sylvia Gifford and Marvel Gifford; and a son- in- law Robert Poorman.
Genevieve was a homemaker and also helped her husband Clarence on the family farm. Before her marriage, she did housekeeping for families in the Galion area. She was a 60 year member of the Nevada Lutheran Church and for hobbies she enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and tending to her chickens.
Funeral services for Genevieve Daiber will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Chelsea Spencer officiating. Burial will follow the services at Nevada Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Monday, September 17, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada.
