George Waymon Hughes

BUCYRUS: George Waymon Hughes, 75, of Bucyrus went to be with the Lord and Savior on Friday at 7:10 pm after a 6 month battle with glioblastoma. George was born October 20, 1937 in Clarksburg, KY to the late Burdick and Catherine (Rurak) Hughes. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Marjorie (Lambert) Hughes.

George is also survived by children, Robin (Richard) Kitts, Bucyrus, Rodney (Kellee) Hughes, Galion, Rita (John) Kegley, Bucyrus, Roy (Lisa) Hughes, New Hampshire, Robert Lonnie (Heidi) Hughes, Sanford N.C., Robert Logan Hughes, Virginia Beach, VA, Ryan (Amy) Hughes, Bucyrus, Reva Hughes, Lexington, OH; 15 grandchildren, Matt and Alexis Kitts, Kelsee Murphy, Stephanie and Seth Kegley, Ethan M., Courtney, Caleb, Callie, Ethane, Connor, and Kennedie Hughes, Austen Kegley, and McKenna Potter; grandson in law, Tim Murphy; brothers, Meredith of Vanceburg, Ronnie of Melbourne KY, Douglas of Butler, OH, sisters, Ethel Sullivan, Garrison, KY, Wanda Edington, Vanceburg, Juanita Johnson of Kewanee IN, Mattie K. Barbour, Maysville KY, Barbara Hughes of Vanceburg, Brenda Rand of Norwood, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Corey Hughes; and brother, William.

George was a deacon at Sharon Christian Church of Bucyrus. He retired from Swan Rubber after working 51 1/2 years. In addition to Swan, George worked on Long Acre Farms for 53 years and was a foster parent for 19 years.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home with Roy Hughes officiating, burial will follow in Crawford County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Memorials may be made to Neuro-Oncology at the James Cancer or to the National Reye's Syndrome Foundation through the funeral home.
