CRESTLINE: Geraldine L. "Fern" Estes, 87, of 725 John St. Apt. 3, Crestline, died Monday, November 12, 2012 at Hospice of North Central Ohio, Ashland. Geraldine had been battling cancer for six years.
Geraldine was born in Jamestown, KY on November 4, 1925 to the late Green Lee and Edith (Blankenship) Dunbar. She married Wayne H. Estes on September 9, 1944 in and he preceded her on May 2, 1994. She had lived here since 1960 coming from Pontiac, MI.
She had worked as an assembler at General Motors and she also worked at the former Geauga Plastics. Mrs. Estes was a member of the Crestline Church of the Nazarene. In her younger years, she enjoyed being on bowling leagues. Geraldine was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, reading and spending time with her family.
She is survived by four children Brenda Greenich of Crestline, Michael & Brenda Estes of Waterford, MI, Regina & Terry Dougherty of West Salem and David & Debra Ann Estes of Taylorsville, NC; eleven grandchildren: Jeff Greenich, Mansfield; Marnie Taylor, Crestline; Tonya Bulloch, Novi, MI; Nathan Estes, Waterford, MI; Paul Estes, Pontiac, MI; Cody Estes, Pontiac, MI; Misty Kolp, Bethlehem, NC; Dustin Estes, Bethlehem, NC; Justin Norman, Mooresville, NC; Brooke Norman, Conover, NC and Amanda Griffith, Delaware; fourteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandaughter Audrina Kipp.
She was preceded in death by her infant son Gary Estes, infant daughter Roanella Estes and her son-in-law James Greenich.
Although Geraldine will be missed by family and loved ones, she is now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Friends may call Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM and for one hour prior to the funeral service at 11 AM on Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Crestline with Pastor David Greenich officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of North Central Ohio in care of the funeral home.
