MARION: Philip E. Leedom, age 63 of Marion, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. He was born December 14,1948, in Marion to the late Edward M.and Mary Jane Leedom.
On September 1, 1990, he married Rebecca A. Hyatt in Elyria, Ohio, and she survives.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion. Phil graduated from Marion Harding High School in 1967, and received his bachelor of science in education from Bowling Green State University in 1971. He received his master of education degree in administration from Bowling Green State University in 1980. Phil's passion was teaching his students the intricacies and importance of the English language. He taught 30 of his 35 years in education with the Marion City School District and was currently serving his second term on the Marion City Schools Board of Education. A lifelong resident of Marion, he truly cared about the community and the education of students.
Phil will be remembered for his wit and intelligence. You could always count on him to put a smile on your face. Phil loved fine dining and became a gourmet cook who enjoyed cooking for friends and family.
In addition to his wife, Becky, Phil is survived by two sons, Brian (Angie) Leedom of little Chute, WI, Jeremy (Kathy) Leedom of Marion; five step-sons, David (Amy) Sheldon of Bucyrus, OH, Chris (Kim) Sheldon of Amherst, OH, Michael (Nicole) Sheldon of Louisburg, NC, Robbie Sheldon of Lakewood, OH, Todd Sheldon of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; seven grandchildren, Alana and Charles Leedom, Luke, Jacob, Caroline, Paige, and Sebastian Sheldon.
Family will receive visitors from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E. Center St., Marion. The funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 249 E. Center St., Marion. Rev. David Hoffman and ChaplainDan Kiger will officiate.
