William "Bill" C. Vaughn

UPPER SANDUSKY: William "Bill" C. Vaughn, age 85, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at 9:45AM at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Bill was born on November 30, 1927 in Elkfork, Kentucky to Richard "Van" and Flora (Holbrook) Vaughn, both of whom are deceased. On July 14, 1950, in Nevada, Ohio, he married Pauline R. Bachtell who survives him. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.

Bill is survived by a son, Dennis (Joyce) Vaughn of Bucyrus; and a daughter, Vickie Griswold of Upper Sandusky; also surviving are four grandchildren, Gwyndolyn Vaughn, Brian (Kerri) Vaughn, Amy Vaughn, and Edward Griswold; four great-grandchildren, Bryton, Trent, Chase, and Logan Vaughn; as well as a brother, Robert "Gene" (Ruth) Vaughn of Bucyrus.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Greg Vaughn; three brothers, Earnest who died in infancy, Jack, and James Curtis; and four sisters, Oshie St.John, Goldie Carr, Betty Earley and Hazel Brady.

Bill retired from the Timken Co. in Bucyrus as a cup operator after 31 years. He also farmed with his brothers-in-law for many years. He was a member of North Salem Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky for over 60 years. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing woodcrafts, and visiting friends. He loved spending time with his family and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill will always be remembered for his big smile and warm hugs.

Funeral services for William C. Vaughn will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Joe Trester officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery. Visitations will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
