BUCYRUS: Shirley A. (Poland) Brown, 80, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the home of her son, Lanny Brown near Leesville.
Born October 1, 1933 in Galion, she was the daughter of Hiram Isaac Poland and Mary DeVere Leonard.
She was a graduate of North Robinson High School in 1951. a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church, she traveled extensively to Europe and Israel and enjoyed canning, crocheting and cooking. She retired from Swan Rubber in Bucyrus in 1998 after 17 years and prior to that worked at Shunk Blades in Bucyrus. She served as clerk for the village of North Robinson where she also served on Village Council.
Surviving are her one son and daughter-in-law, Lanny and Jane Brown of Crestline; step-children, Jim and Judy Brown of North Robinson, Janet and Dale Duncan of Colorado Springs,
Faye and Doyal Goins of Galion, Mary Lou Grimmer of Estes Park, Colo.; several grandchildren
and great grandchildren; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty Jane Ashwell of Bucyrus,
Mary Rarick of Bucyrus, Sandra Britt of Bucyrus, Kaye and Ron Scott of Bucyrus, Karen Sue Knapp of Bucyrus; two brothers and sister-in-law, John and Virginia Poland of Bucyrus and Dale and Joyce Poland of Indiana and one sister-in-law, Annabelle Poland of Galion.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Willard Poland, Herbert and Mart Poland and sister, Barbara Harvey.
Shirley has chosen the gift of anatomical donation to The Ohio State University and private services will be held for the family at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bucyrus United Methodist Church or to the Billy Graham Ministries in care of the Snyder Funeral Home Richardson Davis Chapel in Galion.
