BUCYRUS: Alice K. Crum, 94, originally of Bucyrus, died peacefully Monday morning, June 16, 2014 at the Sanctuary at Wilmington Place in Dayton. She had been in ill health since January.
The youngest of four, Alice was born October 29, 1919 in Bucyrus to the late Charles and Fannie (Rowley) Bowman. Alice graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1937 and, after a year of nurses training in Columbus, she married Wayne H. Crum September 4, 1938.
Wayne and Alice started a family and established the Crum Appliance Co. Alice worked hard in their successful family business and, after Wayne's death in 1975, went on to be a manager for the Farm Bureau. Alice was very business savvy and a valuable member of a number of boards over the years including Bucyrus Community Hospital and Crawford County Community Concert Association. She was a longtime member of Good Hope Lutheran Church before relocating to Dayton.
Alice is survived by two sons, Arden (Lorna) Crum of Vandalia, Ohio and Larry (Connie) Crum of Oro Valley, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband of 36 years, Alice was preceded in death by three siblings, Robert Bowman, Lawrence Bowman and Dorothea Eynon.
Alice will be laid to rest privately in Oakwood Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12 at Good Hope Lutheran Church with Pastor David Bliss officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
