Florence "Gale" Frey

POWELL: Florence "Gale" Frey, 92, of Powell, Ohio and formerly of Bucyrus, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus.

Mrs. Frey was born September 22, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William and Florence (Walck) Goff. She married James Frey of Bucyrus on May 20, 1943 and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1978.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherry Frey of Dublin and Karen Stoudt of Powell; one granddaughter, Beth Ingraham of Pataskala and one brother, Robert Goff of Parma Heights. In Bucyrus, she is survived by a niece, Carole Schiefer and her husband Bud. She is also survived by other nieces and a nephew.

She was a 1939 graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School and a 1942 graduate of Fairview Park Hospital, both in Cleveland. She worked as a registered nurse at Fairview Park Hospital before moving to Bucyrus after the war.

Gale enjoyed being a homemaker and volunteered in various organizations, such as Red Cross, 4-H, and Girl Scouts. She was a member of the King's Daughters and Sons, Friendly Moms Mothers Club, plus other groups. Gale was a long standing member of Good Hope Lutheran Church. For many years she was a member of the choir, Good Morning Circle, Tuesday Morning Bible Study and volunteered in many other areas of the church.

Gale moved from Bucyrus five years ago to live with family. She always loved being active and enjoyed life.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor John Morris of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Dublin, Ohio officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery where Pastor David Bliss will officiate the graveside service.
