falls, Stella Mary Niagara (Sroda) - Niagara Falls  
KAJFASZ - Stella Mary (nee Sroda) 89 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Saturday November 22, 2014. Born September 14, 1925 in Podolsze, county Zator province of Krakow, Poland she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Sroda. Stella's life was a journey from Poland to America. In 1937, arriving on the Batory in Kirkland Lake, Canada at the age of twelve with her sister Mary. She was reunited with her parents and her new brother and sister, seeking work in Canada. The family moved to St. Catherine's in 1940, where Stella worked at McKinnon Industries / GM during World War II. She loved to dance, sing, sew, cook and worked tirelessly. While attending a dance in Canada she felt sorry for the soldier no one would dance with. That soldiers name was Stanley Kajfasz, whom she later married on August 2, 1947. Now a US citizen Stella and Stanley welcomed their first born MaryAnn on June 11, 1951. Stella owned and operated the Pelican Motel for 28 years with her husband and then Polish Nook Restaurant until the present time. Known for her homemade apple strudel, pierogi, kapusta, mushroom soup and more. She traveled to Poland several times to visit family over the years and also Hawaii and many other places. You could say she had a colorful life. She is survived by her children John C. (Carol) Kajfasz, Stanley E. (late Robin) Kajfasz Jr., Kathleen J. "Kathy" Kajfasz and Elizabeth J. "Liz" (Robert) Szafran, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Stanley Kajfasz, her daughter MaryAnn Kajfasz, brother Casimier (Batty) Sroda, sisters Mary (William) Kotwila and Bronise (John) Zdeb. Friends may call Wednesday November 26th from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC. 319 24th. St. corner Welch Ave. Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin at 12:00 noon followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 12:30 PM at Divine Mercy Parish 24th. and Niagara Sts. with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. Burial following in Holy Trinity Cemetery Lewiston, NY. FISHER M.D., Frank Craig - Lockport, Ny  
FISHER - Frank Craig, M.D. Passed away on October 26, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Born in Hamadan, Iran, the son of Commodore and Franke Fisher, Dr. Fisher lived in Iran until he was 16 years old, returning to attend prep school at The Lawrenceville School in New Jersey for his last two years of high school. From there, he attended Maryville College in Tennessee, graduating in 1950. Dr. Fisher had a long, distinguished career in medicine beginning at Emory University in Atlanta, GA where he earned a Doctor of Medicine degree. After completing his medical internship and residency in general surgery at the Indiana University, he served on the USS Rochester as Seventh Fleet Medical Officer from 1957 to 1959. Dr. Fisher moved to Buffalo, NY in 1961 where he was a Fellow in Cardiovascular Surgery at Buffalo General Hospital. Between 1962 and 1964, he completed a Residency in Thoracic Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. After practicing thoracic surgery for several years, Dr. Fisher went on to complete a second Fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI from 1970 to 1971. He returned to the Niagara Falls area and served on the medical staffs at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Inter-Community Memorial Hospital (Newfane) and Lockport Memorial Hospital. Dr. Fisher was a member of the American College of Surgeons, WNY Vascular Society, Buffalo Surgical, and the Gross Medical Club. A devoted husband and father, Dr. Fisher loved to garden, ski, sail, and read. A world traveler, he took many trips with his wife and daughters over the years creating lasting memories. In recent years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Zachary. Dr. Fisher leaves behind his loving wife, Kathleen (Freeland) Fisher; daughters Kara (Nicholas) Ozog of Western Springs, IL and Rachel Sheddan Fisher of Chicago, IL; a brother, John H. Fisher, Ph.D. of Knoxville, TN; one grandchild, Zachary Craig Ozog; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Margaret (Peggy) Fisher Hertel of Grand Rapids, MI in 2009 and Mary Carolyn Fisher Cotugno of Portland, OR in August 2014. A private memorial service took place in Grand Rapids, MI on November 15, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice at www.nationalhospicefoundation.org .

She was predeceased by Fred Fletcher in 2005, her husband of 40 years.
