METZGER, Ernest H. - Amherst  
METZGER - Ernest H. January 17, 2015, at age 91, husband of Sarah G. (nee Grinnell); father of Lisa M. (Dave) Dunning, George Metzger and the late Charlotte (James) Bennett; grandfather of Lucia and Stuart Bennett; brother of Lisa M. Igauer, his twin Charles Metzger and the late John Metzger; father-in-law of James and Pamela Bennett. Born in Nurnberg, Germany of parents Paul Arthur and Charlotte Babette (Kahn) Metzger. Emigrated to the U.S. in 1939, naturalized in 1943. After three years of service with the U.S. Army in Europe in the combat engineers and in intelligence he received a B.S. degree from CCNY in 1949 and a M.S. from Harvard University in 1950. He was employed at Bell Aircraft/Aerospace for 39 years, rising to Executive Director of Engineering with particular expertise in developing inertial instruments and gravity gradiometer systems. Recipient of the Aerospace Pioneer Award, Niagara Frontier Section, AIAA 1977 and Thurlow Award for outstanding contribution to scientific navigation 1987. Named to Niagara Frontier Aviation Hall of Fame 1992. Ernest was twice elected Chairman of the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Buffalo. He was an enthusiastic tennis player, skier, canoeist and hiker with his wife and family. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, March 14 at 2:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 695 Elmwood at W. Ferry, Buffalo. Nunciato; dear mother of Daryle (Shelli) Nunciato, Dean (Jolynn) Nunciato and Joy (David) Jasinski; loving grandmother of Andrew and Bryce Nunciato, Dominic and Gracie Nunciato, Mitchell, Carter and Cole Jasinski; sister of Carolyn (Kenneth) Beback and Gloria (late Richard) Krawczyk; sister-in-law of Ralph (Eleanor) Nunciato and the late Thomas (Lucy) Nunciato; also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Bernadette's Church. (Please assemble at church). Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. RAYMOND - Sally Lou (nee Hutton) Of North Beach, MD formerly of Tonawanda, died of Renal Cancer on January 12, 2015 at the home of her cousins Frederick and Lelia Karr of Sabillasville, MD. She met and married her devoted husband Martin while they were both serving their country in the US Navy. She is also survived by a son, Kyle, her mother, Joanne, a sister, Susan, a brother, James (Ellen) and a nephew Dylan. Sally donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board. There will be a private remembrance at a later date.
