Phil was a great man and a great attorney. I knew him for many, many years before I left the area 22 yrs ago. He was my attorney 33 yrs ago and my father's up until his death, 5 yrs ago.

I worked for Mr. Thielman in the early 80s, one of my very first assignments right out of high school. He was so incredibly kind and encouraging. I remained working in law firms for many years because of Mr. Thielman. I was able to share that with him years later. I will always be thankful my early work experience started with Mr. Thielman. He truly made a difference in my life. I am praying for all of you, I can only imagine the type of family man and friend he was to all. God Bless, Tracy

Dear Peggy and Family;
Needless to say, I was shocked and saddened to read of Phil's passing. I used him as an attorney because he was local in LoveJoy and I like patronizing local businesses. I have a business in Kaisertown and he helped me on many occasions. He was always professional, prompt and eager to help. He gave me great advice as I was preparing to open my business and continued to advise all along. Many times he would not take a dime from me, instead just lunch. I will fondly remember him not only as my attorney but as a friend and fellow business man who cared deeply for his community and the people of the community. I hope, in time you all will find comfort in knowing that many share your loss and hold fond memories of Phil very dear. My sincerest sympathy to each of you. As you know, he was a fair, honest, dependable and compassionate person. I am so glad that we struck up a friendship and will always hold that dear to me. Thoughts and prayers to all of you. May he rest in peace.

Phil was a very kind soul. He was fair to everyone. He would go to bat for you until he won the game and if he didn't win, he would try again until he did. I feel blessed to have known him. My heart is with his family, I'am so very sorry for your loss .

As Town Attorney of the Town of Amherst, he negotiated the purchase of the Amherst State Park, and the construction of the four rink ice arena just to name a few. He also served as President of the Amherst Museum (now Buffalo Niagara Heritage Museum) and was a member of many civic organizations. He was a gentleman and compassionate, he loved his family and community and he will be missed.

Dear Peggy, Nancy, John, Tom and Laura Lee:
I am deeply saddened to read of Phil's passing. I was only 19 when he hired me but what I learned from him gave me the foundation for everything I have done. I will always be indebted to him for that. I still tell stories of the office Christmas parties. May you find comfort in all the memories and stories shared over the upcoming days and weeks.
