HEKIERT - Betty J. (nee Waterville) Age 83, a resident of Harding's Nursing Home, passed away peacefully at the home, on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, following a lengthy illness. Betty was born in Corfu, on May 5, 1929, the daughter of the late Leo P. and Ruth H. Herberger Does. She graduated from the St. Nicholas' Catholic High School in Buffalo in 1948. In 1949, at St. Nicholas's Catholic Church she married Raymond L. Hekiert. Betty had worked for the Madison County Office of the Aging. She had also served on Inter Reglious Council of CNY. She had been previously employed by former Smith Corona Corporation of Syracuse. She had also worked for the Sears and Roebuck Company in Buffalo. Betty was a native of Syracuse, but in later years had lived in Cazenovia and West Winfield prior to moving to Harding's in 2009. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Judy Hekiert, of Syracuse, and Steve and Chistina Hekiert, of Bridgewater; a sister Joyce Atwood, of Derby; six grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Raymond, predeceased Betty in 2005, and her sister June Does, who passed in July of 2012. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 2 PM at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME of Brookfield. Interment will be in Nelson Rural Cemetery. In keeping with Betty's wishes, there is no public calling hours.
