GAMBLE - Charles Edward Age 82 of Wilson, died August 16, 2011 at his home, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born April 20, 1929 in Cuba, NY he was the son of the late Charles E. and Laura R. (Reynolds) Gamble. He attended the University of Buffalo and served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He and his wife, the former Mary Wood, celebrated 60 years of marriage in May. Charles, a Quality Program Manager, worked at Bell Aerospace for 37 1/2 years, retiring in 1990. A past president of the Wilson School Board, he belonged to St. John's Episcopal Church, and was a member of the Adirondack Mountain Club. He enjoyed traveling, the outdoors, and spending time at their seasonal home in Jay, NY. An avid reader on a wide variety of subjects, he loved spending time with family, friends, and playing Bridge. Survived by his wife Mary; father of Melissa (Steven) Thayer of Enfield, CT., Laura (Raymond) McQuade of Guilderland, NY., John (Sharon) Gamble of New Smyrna Beach, FL., and James (Elizabeth) Gamble of Carthage, NY; also survived by nine grandchildren and a great-grandson. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM in St. John's Episcopal Church, Wilson. Internment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
