I've known Mr Hirsch since I was a young gymnast through Buffalo Turners. He was involved in the sport early on and was instrumental in the reorganization of Buffalo Turners as president. His expertise in judging set the standard for all other judges. One of my fondest memories of him was being judged at a Williamsville North-Amherst meet. As an all arounder, rings was not my best event. I remember specifically botching up a routine and he humorously scored me a perfect 10. Mr Hirsch was a class act and a mentor to many young athletes in the sport of gymnastics. HIs legacy lives on through his children and the Greater Buffalo Gymnastic Center. A true friend to the sport. He will be fondly missed.

To the Hirsch Family,
I met Mr. Hirsch when I was a Junior at Amherst High School. It was as a competitor at a HS Gymnastics Meet. Mr. Hirsch was one of the Officials assigned to Judge the Meet. His dignity and presence was inspiring and his quite manner in helping the athletes he critiqued was thoughtful and measured. He gave instruction while acknowledging an athletes effort. I continued to compete through College and every Official I encountered had the misfortune of being compared to Mr. Hirsch in demeanor, his presence, his obvious integrity and in the personal touch that he brought to his calling. My thoughts and prayers go out to my friends the Hirsch Family and to anyone who had the good fortune to have known Earl Hirsch. He will be missed.
