Edward SCHEU Obituary

SCHEU - Edward M. Jr. May 3, 2010 in Hanover, NH. A remarkable business leader, husband, father, sailor, pilot, and generous optimist, Ed was born in Buffalo, November 8, 1924. He graduated from Nichols School, then served with distinction in the US Navy, before graduating from Dartmouth. His business career led him all over the globe, as did his passion for flying and especially for sailing, which began on Lake Erie, as a boy. He was an active member of The Cruising Club of America. Ed served as mentor to many, and contributed his many gifts to non-profits in his retirement. Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Molly Potter Scheu, his sister Mary S. Teach of New London, NH, his brother Robert S. Scheu of Kilmarnock, VA, his daughter Jenny Potter Scheu of Portland, ME, his sons Edward G. Scheu of Middlebury, VT, and R. Nichols Scheu of Woodstock, VT and their families, including five grandchildren. Ed Scheu leaves behind a rich legacy of generosity and of living life to the fullest. He will be terribly missed. A service in celebration of his life will be held at the The Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, 40 College Street, Hanover, NH on June 24, 2010, 4 PM. Contributions in memory & celebration of Ed Scheu's life may be made to "The Upper Valley Humane Society" (15 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH 03748) or "The Cadbury Fund" (Kendal at Hanover, 80 Lyme Rd, Hanover, NH 03755).
