SMITH - Jean C. Was born Jean Lois Shivers on January 31, 1927 in Indianapolis, IN to Robbie Casey and Marvin Shivers. She passed away on November 24, 2012. Jean Smith attended Public School 17 on Main St. in Buffalo, NY and graduated from Fosdick Masten High School in 1945. She later went on to receive a degree from Bryant Stratton Business School. On October 18, 1947, Jean Smith married Joseph L. Clore, son of Edna Clore and John Joseph Clore. On August 22, 1950, Jean Smith gave birth to her only child, Joseph A. Clore. She began working with the Internal Revenue Service, in Buffalo, NY in approximately 1956. She readily worked with taxpayers to help them meet their tax requirements. After her marriage to Joseph Clore ended in 1964, Jean Smith married Leonard A. Smith, from Nashville, TN. In 1974, Jean Smith transferred from the IRS Buffalo, NY District to the Camden, NJ District Office and set up residence in New Jersey. Jean Smith retired from the IRS in 1986. She enjoyed the singing of Carmen McCrue and Nancy Wilson, and the musical talent of Cannonball Adderly and Jimmie Smith. She traveled extensively through Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, North africa, the Carribbean, and South America. She was a member of Bethel AME Church in Moorestown, New jersey, and a member of the South Jersey Chapter Continental Societies, Inc. She also remained a Buffalo Bills fan to the end. Jean Smith leaves to cherish her memories: son Joseph A. Clore, daughter-law Shirley a. Clore of Plainfield, New Jersey, grandsons: Christopher J. Clore, esq. of New York, NY and Michael A. Clore of Plainfield, NJ, nephews: Booker and Willie Cunningham and niece: Renee Evans of Buffalo, NY and a host of friends. Funeral services for Jean Smith will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the North Buffalo Community Church S.B.C., 350 Kenmore Ave., Buffalo, NY 14223. Wake/viewing 10 AM. Funeral 11 AM. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by H. ALFRED LEWIS MORTUARY, INC., 968 Jefferson Ave.
