GUNSHER - Dolores C. Hirsch Dolores Cecelia Hirsch Gunsher of Springville, NY made the journey from this life to the next one on February 12, 2014 at the age of 81. She was a devoted Christian who is now at peace with the Lord, her Savior, having drawn on His strength daily. She was a loving mother, homemaker, and gardener. Known to her closest friends as "Dee", her beautiful yard and garden stand on Genesee Road was a beloved landmark of the community. Dee was never a stranger to hard work and was a beautiful and powerful member of "the Greatest Generation". With her indomitable spirit she tackled every challenge whether it was carrying water from a well to run her house, balancing the responsibilities of work with raising her four children, or fighting the cancer that ultimately took her life. She always left anything that she touched a little better, a little more beautiful and a little more solid than when she found it. She leaves a legacy of inspiration. She is survived by her closest friend, Joyce Heim and her family Marilyn and Joe Wolniewicz; Dee's four children: Karen Hirsch Stanley of Eagle Mountain, UT, Nancy Hirsch Sutter and Pat Mitchell of Matthews, NC; David Hirsch; and Andrew Hirsch and Holly Dobbins of Syracuse, NY. She has three grandchildren, Jennifer, Shane and Adam; and two great-grandchildren, Noel and Matthew. She is also survived by her siblings, Sandy Emer of Yucca Valley, CA, Raymond Emer of Coral, FL, and Richard Emer of Buffalo, NY, as well as her first husband, Thomas Hirsch of Buffalo, NY. She was the sister of the late Robert, and Ethyl Emer of Buffalo, NY, and the wife of the late John Gunsher. She is also survived by David Gunsher and the Gunsher family. Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 22nd from 11 AM - 1 PM at SMITH-WEISMANTEL FUNERAL HOME, 271 E. Main St., Springville, NY.
