COURTNEY - Patricia Ann "Pat" (nee Rochford) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away March 22, 2014 at home in St. Petersburg, FL, after a struggle with ALS, with her family at her side. Born on April 24, 1937, she married her high school sweetheart, Jack, who shared her life for 57 love-filled years. Pat is survived by Jack and six children and their spouses: Dennis (Monica Stempian), Kathy (William Hochul), Michael (Susan Haupt ), Sheila (Larry Heinze), David (Susie Specht) and Paul (Jennifer Minnuto) and 18 adored grandchildren and two great-granddaughters; also survived by a sister Sharon (Walter) Wroblewski. Pat graduated from Medaille College in Buffalo, NY and devoted her life to the care of others, serving as a director, staff person or volunteer for countless organizations, including the Neighborhood Information Center, Haven House, Hamburg Counseling Center, Hospice, as well as counseling families in marriage or crisis counseling. A spiritual individual, Pat touched the lives of thousands of individuals living the words of the Gospel. She was active at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Hamburg, NY, serving as Vice-Chair of the Parish Council and organizing day camps and food drives for the under-served in her communities. As a businesswoman, she started Expressions Floral and Gifts, which she ran for 15 years. At age 70, she founded the Kathleen Mary House with her sister, a transitional home for victims of domestic violence named in honor of their mother. In Florida, Pat and her husband were active in the Isla del Sol Country Club, they initiated the Cruise for Hunger component of the Play for Hunger benefit for the St. Petersburg Free Clinic. Pat's legacy will live on in her inspiration and influence she had on her children, grandchildren and the untold people whose lives she touched. A Funeral Mass will be held at March 29 at 10:30 AM at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in St. Petersburg. Family will receive visitors at Brett Funeral Home, 4810 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, Friday, March 28 from 4-7 PM. Pat's family in New York can share in "A Celebration of Pat's Life" at the Avanti Mansion, 4409 South Park Ave. Hamburg, on April 5 from 2-5 PM.
