MILLER - Sally Murphy Passed away April 19, 2014 listening to stories about the long list of people who loved her including her beloved husband of fifty four years Gerald, daughters Margaret Love, Catherine Pera, son Daniel Miller, sons-in-law Shaun and David and grandchildren Jamie Love, Joseph, Anne Marie and Thomas Pera. The daughter of Daniel and Ruth, Sally was born Ellen Mary in 1923, but soon nicknamed Sally by her grandfather after a favorite song and it suited her. She grew up surrounded by farms in Chili, NY with siblings James (Mary) Murphy and Mickey (Peter) Meade. Her favorite times were spent at her grandparents home on Lake Ontario. Sally received her degree from the University of Rochester and her master's degree from Wayne State University. She worked as a nurse/ nursing supervisor at Strong Memorial Hospital and was a nurse educator at the U of R and at Wayne State. Her experiences as a student nurse on the wards during WWll were always a part of her life. After moving to Amherst, she joined the University of Buffalo's Women's Club, made lifelong friendships with neighbors and bridge club members, and developed her passion for collecting. She was an antique dealer, a reader, an art appreciator, and a sports fan. She was genuinely and positively interested in everyone she met. When asked what she wanted to be shared after she passed, she stated that she loved all of her nieces and nephews very much. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday May 24 at 9:30 AM Christ the King Church 30 Lamarck Drive at Main St Amherst.
