John was a WWII Army veteran who served his country honorably. He served in France with the 195th Army General Hospital as a Medic and later as a Combat Medic with the 78th Infantry Division in Germany. After the war he attended Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in Syracuse, and the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, eventually earning a funeral director's license. He was a member of the American Legion Adam Plewacki Post #799. He was an avid Yankees fan his entire life. He belonged to Canisius College Alumni and the Polish National Alliance of America. He had a strong commitment to his family and was a man of great faith. "Sleep with the angels, dear John, until we meet again."
