BROST - Nancy J. May 31, 2011. She was born June 1, 1928 in Buffalo, NY, to William and Rita Gibney. She grew up in Amherst, NY. After graduating from Amherst Central High School, she graduated from Endicott College for Women in Endicott, MA. She married her childhood sweetheart, Robert F. Brost, August 28, 1948 at the Central Presbyterian Church in Buffalo. Nancy was a wonderful athlete and tennis player and won many trophies and tournaments over her tennis career. Bob and Nancy moved to Hilton Head Island, SC in 1980 and lived there for 20 years. Nancy was a noted interior designer and oversaw the design activities of their design and furniture business. They sold the business and retired to Vero Beach, FL. While in Buffalo, she was active in many civic groups including being the Chair of the Women's Board of the Buffalo Zoo, founding member of the Amherst-Clarence Women's Tennis Club, President of the Dolphins at the Buffalo Athletic Club and many school and Methodist church-related activities. Her church-related involvement continued both in Hilton Head and Vero Beach. She is survived by her loving husband Bob; four sons: Robert, Gary (Willow), Scott and Todd (Susan); seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service was held in Vero Beach, FL on June 14. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
