DREHER - Wallace E. "Wally" Age 71 of Ovid, died at Geneva General Hospital on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. In keeping with Wally's wishes, no public services will be held. Wally's friends and former co-workers desire that a tree be planted in his memory at Sampson State Park, 6096 Route 96A, Romulus, NY 14541. Wally was born in Buffalo on March 14, 1941, a son of the late Gordon and Violet (Christensen) Dreher. He was a graduate of Seneca Vocation High School in Buffalo. Wally worked for the NYS Dept. of Transportation in Hamburg and Lockport as an equipment mechanic for several years before working at Sampson State Park in Romulus as an equipment manager foreman. In 1985, he accepted the position of park manager and held the position until his retirement in 1996. Wally enjoyed cooking for his family and with his companion Cindy, and her granddaughter, Ciera. He was a crew chief for several modified stock cars that won races in Syracuse, Watkins Glen, Daytona, and season point championships at WNY short tracks. Wally is survived by two children, Bradley and Sandra; companion, Cindy Doolittle; brothers, Bud and Gordon and sisters, Carol and Joan.
