BLAKE - Richard A. November 20, 2012, beloved husband of the late Pauline M. (nee Tasner) Blake; dearest father of Carleen Blake Ryan and James (Diane) Blake; dear brother of Mary Lou (late Vincent) Zarbo and the late Edward (Mary) Blake; he is also survived by nieces and nephews. Mr. Blake was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII who served in the 101st Airborne Division. He parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and served in many other operations in the European Theater during the war. He received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Conspicuous Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge and a Presidential Unit Citation. He also was a member of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Division Associations, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, the 1st Allied Airborne Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Alhambra for over 50 years. Mr. Blake was a retired planner with Erie County Division of Planning with 38 years of service. The family will be present on Saturday from 7-9 PM and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the (Quinn Southtown Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 6170 West Quaker Rd., Orchard Park, where Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 9:15 AM and a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated from Nativity of Our Lord Church (South Buffalo and Thorn) in Orchard Park at 10 AM.
