QUENNEVILLE - QUENNEVILLE - Loretta Retired teacher of English at Lancaster High School, died January 7, 2013, at home, after a time battling lung cancer. She was 82 years old. A graduate of University of Buffalo, Mrs. Quenneville attended St. Mary Magdalene Elementary, Holy Angels Academy and D'Youville College. She began her career teaching at Riverside High School for several years. Later, she continued teaching English, grades nine through twelve, at Lancaster High for another twenty years, acting as Senior Class Advisor from 1974 to 1980. After retiring in 1986, she enjoyed traveling to Europe and Mexico and was present with high school and college alumna in Rome for the canonization of St. Marguerite D'Youville in 1991. Mrs. Quenneville was a member of Clarence Book Club for many years and recently served as assistant treasurer until her illness, happily welcoming members who attended the monthly meetings. Her love of books led her to volunteer at Clarence Library for many years. Earlier, she was active in establishing the Amherst Branch of the American Association of University Women, serving as Treasurer for ten years while participating in book discussions and other club activities. She is survived by her husband, Valence, of 48 years, sons Jerome Droney, Timothy (Maraya) Droney, Patrick Droney, Bryan Droney, and daughters Mary Kay (William) Deyo and Elizabeth (Gerald) Mowry. She is survived also by her beloved granddaughter and namesake, Emma Loretta Mowry, and nine other grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Carlo and Loretta Gulino, and her brothers Frank Gulino and Vito Gulino. The family will be present on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the (Harris Hill Chapel) AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8440 Main St., Clarence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:30 AM from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Main St., Clarence. Burial of cremains at Mount Calvary will be private. The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice-Buffalo for their support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the in Loretta's name.
