CANFIELD - Richard E. Entered into eternal rest, July 23, 2013. Dick was born and raised in Buffalo, NY having attended Holy Angels Grammar & High School, he was an altar boy and avid sports participant, playing basketball, hockey, baseball, football and going onto playing professional baseball. He was a member of the Ad-Club. He was a Scout leader and coach. in 1973 he moved to Ft. Lauderdale where he worked at Ezell-Titterton for many years as the head of flooring. Upon the company's closing he started his own flooring business. He sold his business two years ago and just recently retired moving to Port St. Lucie, FL. He was predeceased by his daughter Jamie Lynn (Huston) Fitzsimmons, Lawler. He leaves behind his devoted and cherished wife of 24 years, Patrice A. Furno-Canfield of Utica, NY now residing in Port St. Lucie; his loving son Michael R. (Debbie Millette) Canfield of Buffalo, NY, Jan Huston of Hawaii and a daughter Pam (Huston) and Danny Roy of FL and GA. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Justin t. (Michele Leon) Fitzsimmons, Jason M., Aaron J., Kelli Fitzsimmons, Amanda Lawler, Travis, Jennifer Roy all of FL and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Sara, Denic and Bayleigh Fitzsimmons all of FL. Dick was very active in the horse racing community and owned Thoroughbreds, racing throughout the tracks in Florida as well as Saratoga, NY. All his social contacts will miss seeing him at his favorite lunch spots; Mickey's, Ocean's, Reds. A memorial mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church on Bayshore Drive in Ft. Lauderdale 10 AM Saturday, October 26, 2013 with a celebration of his life immediately following at Mickey's Bar and Grille on Oakland Park Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale.
