JOHN KOWALAK Obituary

KOWALAK - John J. Age 90, of Melbourne, FL, passed away October 20, 2013. He was born in Buffalo, NY, a Canisius College graduate, and performed radio communications research in Fairbanks, Alaska on a civilian assignment for the U.S. Navy / Carnegie Institute. He and Irene E. Mullen, also from Buffalo, married in Fairbanks. During their 62 years of marriage they had four children, ten grand- and ten great-grandchildren. John was Exec. VP at Movielab in NYC, a Life Fellow of the SMPTE and Associate Member of ASC. After his retirement, John was active in Post Card & Camera shows, including Buffalo Shows. As Camera-Retrospect, he collected photography-related cards and Irene collected Alaska postcards. John was a kind and generous man with a great sense of humor. He was a devoted husband to Irene, who passed away in 2006. They are deeply missed and will be forever in our hearts. A Funeral Mass was held in Florida in November. Donations may be made to the church where they married: Immaculate Conception Church, 2 Doyon Place, Fairbanks, AK 99701; Specify Soup Kitchen.
