I am so sorry to hear of the loss of my old messenger friend Jim Rapp. My condolences to everyone who knew this wonderful and unique human being. I got to know him on the streets of DC; I think we worked for the same company for a while and thus were frequently at the same buildings. I would always get caught up laughing at his crazy stories. He would slow me down, but I always treasured running into Jimmy. I lost track of him after I moved to Colorado, but I wish I hadn't. I miss you, buddy

I was not the closests of Jim's friends, but always admired his spirit and have his "Winged Mercury" photo among the number of photos I rotate on my cork board at work to illustrate how magical it was to be young and a courier in DC.

My deepest condolences to the Rapp family. Jim was an important person in my life, and he left an imprint on literally everyone he met. Even after his body began to betray him, he still had that sparkle and kept me regularly shaking my head in frustration!?! We are all lucky that our paths crossed his in this life.

I can still see Jim's painted helmet adorned with a giant pink feather as he flew through DC streets on his bike. What a graceful athlete and wonderful person.
My deepest condolences to all those who are missing him so much.

So sorry for the loss of your son, brother, uncle & friend! I grew up on Desmond, down the street from the Rapp family! Jim was a little over 10 years older than me, so I do not have many memories of him. But, I bet he rode his bike every where just like his younger siblings did! Always saw those Rapp boys cruising on the streets on their cycles! May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived. ~

My deepest condolences to the Rapp family and friends. I am writing to express my thoughts, though I did not know James (Jim), but I know his sister Linda. Losing a sibling is difficult; as I lost my sister so many years ago. We always remember them with great fondness and joy, with occasional sadness.
Wonderful to see so many touching tributes and memories of 'Big Brother Jim' on here. So nice to read.
Extending my heartfelt sympathies to Jim's family, friends and associates. Those who were touched by his presence then and even now will continue to honour him from these days forward.
My thoughts will be with you all, this weekend. Peace, love and comfort.

Who would have thought that of all the kids running around Sheridan Extension Jimmy Rapp would become such a braveheart? Although I have not seen him in many years, I know through Sue that he never let his physiology nor MS define him. What a tribute to his character and a loving family that he never lost his sense of humor. Beautiful butterfly, you are free of your cocoon! Love and God's peace to his family and dearest friends.
Love,
Debbie

Jim Rapp, a very stubborn, adventurous, kind, funny, generous man. A lover not a fighter. One of the first persons I met after moving into DC and one of a few friends I had. I owe this man, he taught me a lot about life.
