WINTHROP – Thomas K. Adams, 62 of Winthrop, formerly of Stacyville, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center, West, in Independence.
Tom was born on April 21, 1951 at Stacyville, the son of Keith C. and Anna L. (Heinzerling) Adams. He grew up in Stacyville, attending Visitation Grade School and Marian High School before graduating from St. Ansgar High School in 1969 and Loras College in Dubuque in 1973.
He taught high school English at Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock, Plainfield, and East Buchanan (Winthrop) and also worked part time for The Winthrop News from 1988 through 2004.
Tom is survived by his four brothers: Tim (Sheryl) Adams of Stacyville, Dan Adams of LInden, N.C., Bob Adams of Osage, and Adrian Adams of Stacyville; one sister, Deborah (Daniel) Gabrielson of Rochester, Minn., several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and sister-in-law Ginny.
Tom was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Winthrop, St. Pat's Choir, and Knights of Columbus.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Winthrop with Father Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Music provided by St. Patrick's Choir. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Winthrop.
The Fawcett Funeral Home and Cremation Services is assisting the family with arrangements. Friends called for visitation from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, and until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30 at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop.
