TREGO, Wis. – Paul Joseph "PJ" Leehey of Trego, WI died on Monday, Aug. 26 at the age of 80.
The Guest Book is expired.
PJ grew up in Independence and graduated the University of Iowa with his D.D.S. in 1961. He served as a Captain in the Air Force before settling and raising his family in Fort Dodge. He happily retired to his dream home on the lake at age 60.
He remained a life long Hawkeye fan, making the 7 1/2 hour drive to Iowa City for each home football game, and following the team around the country for many bowl games. He enjoyed watching Twins baseball, and especially loved Joe Mauer. He was an avid fisherman and loved pheasant hunting with his Brittany Spaniels.
Most of all, PJ loved spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife Donna; his children Paul (Barb) Leehey, Pete (Lisa) Leehey, Teresa (Keith) Lamprech, Pat (Chris) Leehey, Gabby (Dan) Matzdorff; grandchildren, Jenny Savage, Bryan (Amanda) Savage, Cameron Leehey, Caitlin Leehey, PJ Leehey IV, Schuyler Leehey, Maddy Webber, Tanner Leehey, Joey Leehey, Jack Webber, and McKenna Leehey; and honorary son, Gordy Baker.
Visitation will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Spooner, Wis. on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 12 p.m., with a Memorial Mass to follow at 1 p.m. Condolences for the family may be left at www.lampefuneralhome.com
