INDEPENDENCE - Archie Lee Workman, 74, of Independence, died Sunday, Nov. 6 at his home.
Archie was born on Sept. 7, 1937, in Winthrop, the son of Arthur J. and Verna E. (Wright) Workman. He attended the Independence High School and entered the U.S. Navy on Jan. 27, 1955, serving until his discharge on June 12, 1957. He owned and operated the North End Tap in Independence from 1963 to 1966. In 1966, Archie became employed with Wilson Foods (Farmland Foods) in Cedar Rapids, working there until his retirement in 1990. He was married to Ramona F. Postel on August 5, 1972 in Galena, Ill.
He is survived by three step-daughters; Brenda Irvine, Stanley, Wendy Merck and Candy Rude both of Thief River Falls, Minn., six grandchildren one great grandchild, and two sisters; Florence Ives, Quasqueton, and Eileen (Higgins) Long, Winthrop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Ramona on April 26, 2000.
Memorial services were Friday, Nov. 11 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Quasqueton.
