Ava Lessenger, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 20, 2010. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday at McLaren's Chapel with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Ava was born February 1, 1925 in Independence, Iowa to Edward and Gladys (Moody) McCormick. She worked as an accountant most of her life and was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star. Ava enjoyed going to church every Sunday, bowling, playing bridge, water coloring and gardening.
Ava is survived by her daughter, Connie Holt of West Des Moines; son, Richard Lessenger of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Kristopher (Wendy) Holt of Wichita, Kansas and Patrick (Julie) Holt of Des Moines; one great-grandson, Jonathan Holt of Des Moines and two sisters, Lois (Richard) Lockwood of Branson, Missouri and Shirley (Bill) Morrissey of Phoenix, Arizona.
Ava was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Lessenger.
A Memorial visitation will be from 12:30 pm to 2 pm Thursday at McLaren's Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the , Greater Iowa Chapter in West Des Moines or Hospice of Central Iowa in West Des Moines. Visit our guestbook at www.bulletinjournal.com.
