INDEPENDENCE - Bonnie Kay Bagby was born Dec. 30, 1957 at Winthrop, the daughter of John and Shirley Ann Kerkove Bagby. She attended the Winthrop Schools and graduated with the East Buchanan High School class of 1976. She then attended UNI, worked at the Independence Bulletin Journal and then BankIowa.
Bonnie married Bill Brallier in 1984 and they were later divorced. She then married John Spurlin on December 8, 1990. He died of cancer in 2005.
Bonnie was united in marriage to Carl Kelley on October 28, 2006 at the Triumphant Christian Center in Independence. They made their home in Independence where Bonnie continued worked in the Bookkeeping department for BankIowa.
Bonnie entered into her eternal rest on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Allen Hospital in Waterloo after a long battle with Cancer. She was 51 years of age.
She was preceded in death by her father John Bagby.Survivors include her husband Carl of Independence, her mother Shirley of Independence, six brothers: Craig (Karen) Bagby of Solon; Bill Bagby of Eagle Grove; Mark (Cindy) Bagby of Winthrop; Michael Bagby of Winthrop; Jeff (Sheri) Bagby of Forney, Texas; and Brad (Julie) Bagby of Independence; one sister Marsha (Tim) Carter of Independence; many nieces and nephews; step children, step grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Triumphant Christian Center in Independence with Pastor Lance Fricke officiating. Casket bearers will be: Jonathan Bagby, Blake Bagby, Aaron Pauls, Eric Nagle, Jeremy Smock, and Brian Nagle. Honorary bearers will be: Clayton Bagby, Danielle Carter, Kayla Carter, Alex Pauls, and Corey Nagle. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Winthrop.
