Carl "Dudy" Ryan Jr. (1928 - 2013)


WINTHROP – Carl "Dudy" Ryan Jr. was born Sept. 10, 1928, at Independence, the son of Carl Ryan Sr. and Charlotte Marie Gaffney Ryan. He grew up in Winthrop, attending school at Winthrop Consolidated School.
Dudy was united in marriage to Marjorie Solem on June 30, 1956 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop.
At the age of 84 years, Dudy entered into his eternal rest on Monday, Feb. 18, at the Buchanan County Long Term Care Center in Independence.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Dale; his brothers: Glen, Larry, and James; and sisters: Phyllis Fangman and Mary Gifford.
Surviving him is his wife of 67 years, Marjorie; his daughters: Deanna (Jerry) Naber of Winthrop and Donna (Steve) Buchanan of Charles City; his son, Dan Ryan of Winthrop; his sister, Shirley Tinker of Sun Prairie, Wisc.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Winthrop with Father Donald J. Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery at Winthrop.
Friends call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, with a scripture service at 8 p.m., and on Thursday until 10 a.m. at Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Condolences may be sent to: under obituaries.
