QUASQUETON – Cecil L. Wright, 67, of Quasqueton, died Friday morning, April 19, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
Cecil was born on June 16, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa the son of Robert H. and Evelyn L. (Smith) Wright. He was raised in Independence where he graduated from the Independence High School in 1964. He married Christine A. Remetch on April 8, 1978 in Evansdale. The family made their home in Evansdale, and he was employed with the John Deere Company in Waterloo from 1966 to his retirement in 1996 at which time the family moved to Quasqueton and lived on the Wapsipinicon River.
He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting ginseng and morel mushrooms with his wife Christine. He also enjoyed playing pool in the men's Wapsi Valley Pool League and in tournaments at Wee Willeys
He is survived by his wife Christine; five daughters: Robin (Ray) Wilkinson, Independence, Sherry (Curt) Zieser, Rowley, Dawn (Dennis) Schmidt, Waterloo, Brandy Wright, Evansdale, and Amy Wright, Quasqueton; fourteen grandchildren; and two sisters: Betty Jean Olson and Barbara Merritt both of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Winthrop, with Rev. Don Plamondon officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 to 10 a.m. Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Winthrop.
