INDEPENDENCE – C.J. (Clement) Quinn, 93, of Independence, died Thursday, March 11 at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence following a short illness. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margie; two sons; James and Richard Quinn; two brothers; Francis and Emmett Quinn, and a sister; Mary Schwartz. C.J. was born Feb. 11, 1917, near Oelwein, the son of James H. and Agnes L. (McSweeney) Quinn. Surviving are six children: Linda (Curt) Huff, Moline, Ill.., Kathleen Appleby, Independence; Bill (Ann) Quinn, Independence; Mary Jo (Don) Mai, Dubuque; Diane (Ken) Heiple, Independence, and Julie (Randy) Johnson, LaPorte City; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a sister; Evelyn Quinn, Independence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery.
